My first trip out for fun! (4 months old)

Woo Hoo !!!! I finished all my immunizations and now I'm allowed to go places! Here are some pictures from my first real trip out in the world, we went to Lake Cunningham. I was very happy and curious about the environment. I've been out a few times previously, but I had to be carried since I hadn't had all of my shots yet. Now that I can walk around out in the world, I am very excited to have the chance to go places with my family!

 I am 11 weeks old now, and I still love chewing everything I can get ahold of! After a long afternoon of chewing and playing, I enjoy laying in the sun and posing for pictures. I am 20 pounds now and am very healthy and happy !

Meal Training and Retrieving - 12 weeks old

My family is super proud of me, because I am learning quickly. In these videos I'm 12 weeks old. The video above shows an example of how well I am doing when its feeding time. I USED TO jump all over my family and act crazy wild while they were pouring the food into my bowl. But that was the old days. Nowadays, I am learning to have very good manners. While I do still tend to bark and yap a bit while they are preparing my meals (it just smells SO good, I can't help myself!! Everyone loves to jump and bark at the smell of their favorite dinner!!) but when its time to eat, I've learned to wait until they give me the go ahead. It feels really good to be learning my manners so well !!

The next video shows me "retrieving" my Frisbee. My family makes sure that I not only get a lot of exercise, but that I have fun while doing it!

First Day of Puppy Preschool (11 weeks old)

 My first day of puppy class was SO fun! I was super excited and full of energy. We worked on learning to sit on command for a little while. Then we spent a lot of time working on sensory items. We went from station to station and I was not afraid of any of the sensory items that were provided. I didn't flinch at the noises, or the skateboards or any of the items that they designed for me to get used to. It was super fun! Then we had the opportunity to  run around in a play area with the rest of the puppies. Although I am the biggest puppy in the class, I was a bit afraid of the other puppies at first. It was just all so new to me, these little tiny dogs running around trying to play with me. My people gave me lots of treats and positive reinforcement, and before long I was feeling much more comfy and was not scared of the other dogs anymore!

Comfy Bed vs Plastic Chair Leg

Hello there friends!
So... I've been conducting some very important tests, and I've made my decision. Expensive fluffy bed versus hard plastic chair leg from 1998...and the winner is....PLASTIC CHAIR LEG!!! Yeah!!! This is my favorite place to take a nap. I am 11 weeks old now, so I feel I am ready to make big decisions like this all by myself! There's nothing like a nice plastic chair leg after a long day of yard work. And by yard work, I mean pulling out all of dad's tulips when he wasn't looking!

My name is Cage (10 weeks old)

10 weeks old

 

 Well, they did it!! My family has finally chosen a name for me. My name is Cage. It took them a while to choose the name. Puppy Number 9 was a cute temporary name, but now I am Cage. I am learning to respond to my name very quickly! I am now 10 weeks old, and my mission is to chew on anything and everything I can. This keeps my family extremely busy, since Labs are known for not just chewing everything, but swallowing things too. Its hard for me to resist chewing and eating inappropriate items, so for the time being, it is necessary for me to have constant supervision. If my people look away even for just a second, I will not be able to resist the urge to bite off a chunk of something. Furniture, shoes, garden plants, nothing is safe left alone with a puppy! Well, thanks for reading my blog post today. I need to get back to work on this alligator I found in the yard! :)

My First Week in the City (9 weeks old)

Now I am 9 weeks old. I'm getting used to my new home. My family has been giving me a lot of love and helping me with the transition from the farm life to the city life. I love going outside to play in the huge backyard, there is so much to sniff and nibble on! I get a bit startled and a little nervous when airplanes fly by. My family says I will get used to the sounds of the city really soon!

My First Puppy Vet Visit (8 weeks old)

I had my first visit at the veterinarian today. He said I have a beautiful coat! I had shots and I didn't even make a sound. It didn't hurt at all ! I was weighed at just a bit over 16 pounds. I was actually pretty comfy in the doctors office and was very cooperative! Here is a picture of me and Brandon at my first puppy vet appointment. Brandon isn't very comfortable in doctor offices, but he was being really brave taking me in there and comforting me!

Meeting My New Family! Yay!!

Meeting my new family today was really exciting! They instantly fell in love with me! They brought some things to try and help make the long trip home more comfy...a nice soft blankie, some toys, and a really cool, colorful collar and leash.

My Birth Day!

This is the very first picture of me. I was born on January 26, 2016. I am an AKC registered Labrador, a really nice mix of both English and American Lab. I was the 9th one born in the litter, so for now they call me "Puppy Number 9".
